YPT seeks a diverse company of actors for our annual New Play Festival

The New Play Festival celebrates the bold new voices of our student playwrights by producing their work in a professional setting. Student playwrights collaborate with seasoned actors, directors, and designers to bring their plays to life. First read-through will be held on Saturday 3/17, with rehearsals Monday through Friday 4/2 – 4/21 from 6:30-9:30pm, and Saturdays 4/14 and 4/21 from 10:00am-5:00pm. (The specific schedule will be determined based on actor availability, and actors will not be expected to rehearse every day.) Technical rehearsals and performances will be held on 4/23 and 4/24. Actors will only be required to perform for one night of the festival. Auditions will be held between 11:00am and 3:00pm on 1/26 and 1/27.

To submit for consideration please send headshot, resume and contact info to Laurie Ascoli, Program Associate, Young Playwrights’ Theater at
lascoli@yptdc.org or 2437 15th St. NW, Washington, DC 20009. We are particularly interested in hiring actors of color, in order to accurately reflect the diversity of our student playwrights. Pay is $200 for participation. No phone calls please.

YPT Internships
YPT offers professional internships in Arts Administration and Arts Education throughout the year. Available in semester, year-long, or summer units, YPT’s internships provide participants with an education in nonprofit management, administration, and arts education. Interns are treated as temporary staff members and are contracted for approximately 10 to 30 hours per week, depending on a candidate’s availability, in exchange for either course credit or a small stipend. Working with YPT is a great way to learn about all aspects of running a small nonprofit theater or to gain hands-on experience in arts education. No housing or transportation is provided.  If you are interested in an internship with YPT, download the internship application below and send it in, along with a cover letter and resume, to:
